Your data
If you want to go, you can take it with you.
You can delete your account and everything in it, from inside the app or by emailing us. No form to fill in and nobody will try to talk you out of it.
How to delete your account
In the app, open Me, then Privacy and data, then Delete account. You will be asked to confirm, and nothing happens until you do.
If you have already uninstalled the app, or you cannot sign in, email hello@themamayears.com from the address you signed up with and we will do it for you. We answer within two working days.
You have 30 days to change your mind
We keep your data quietly for 30 days. Email us inside that window and we will bring all of it back exactly as it was. Your account is closed the moment you ask, so nobody can sign in to it in the meantime.
After 30 days it is deleted automatically. That part is not reversible and we cannot recover it for you afterwards, which is why the window exists.
What is deleted
- Your profile, name, email address and photo
- Your children, their names, dates of birth, measurements and milestones
- Every tracker log: feeds, sleeps, nappies, kicks, contractions, cycles and daily notes
- Your pregnancies, pregnancy logs and any letters you wrote
- Saved articles, lesson progress and consult history
- Your sign-in details, including a linked Apple or Google account
- Your place on our waitlist, if you were ever on it
If you want a copy first, open Me, then Privacy and data, then Download my data, before you delete. We cannot send it to you afterwards.
What stays, without your name on it
Posts and replies you wrote in the community. The words stay, your name does not, because other mothers replied to them and their conversation is not ours to delete.
Your name, photo and profile are removed from them, so they no longer point back to you. If you would rather a particular post were gone entirely, delete it in the app before you close your account, or tell us which ones when you email.
What we keep, and for how long
- Reports about a post or a member · 2 years
So we can act on a pattern of harm. The report no longer says who made it. - A record that your account was deleted · 7 years
The date, and nothing else. No name, no email, no content. It is how we can prove your data was removed. - Encrypted database backups · Up to 30 days
Backups are overwritten on a rolling schedule. Your data is gone from the live app straight away, and gone from the last backup within a month.
- Reports about a post or a member · 2 years
If you pay for Premium, cancel it first
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, only the store can cancel it, so please do that first: on iPhone, Settings, your name, Subscriptions; on Android, the Play Store, then Payments and subscriptions.
Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why. If anything here is unclear, get in touch and a person will answer.
